Amazing Merino is a brand from Limon Attire

Founder Barbara Lewis is a graduate of the Textile Department of Leeds University and has nearly 20 years’ experience in fashion buying. She always knew Merino wool was a special, high quality and valued fibre but didn’t really appreciate just how special until she became the Fashion Buying Manager at Wellington’s revered Department store – Kirkcaldie and Stains (now sadly shut down). She lived and worked in Wellington, New Zealand for nearly four years until she had to come back to England to help look after her mother who had developed dementia.

Whilst in NZ she found that an enormous number of people wore fine merino wool as the norm – every day for every sort of activity – from work to play, night to day. Once she returned to the UK and began looking for fine merino tops to wear, she found that they really only existed in sports shops. It seemed that fine merino base layers were the province of sports people only.

She set out to change all that.

Merino has so many fantastic qualities it seemed to her that everyone should know about it and wear it.
She was also aware that there are many cheap copies and very different qualities, and she wanted only the best to be able to convert the UK to merino.

Barbara contacted a supplier in New Zealand who made fine merino base layers and had many years’ experience in making next-to-the-skin merino garments. Together they developed a range which they felt was ideal for the UK market and what is on this website is the result of their collaboration. Fine merino is a fabulously adaptable fabric and we hope to develop a larger range in an array of lovely colours.
